iPoker Network Announces a Variety of Changes
The iPoker Network, the second largest online poker network in the world, has announced an array of significant changes.
The alterations are meant to optimize software and, in doing so, improve play experience for players at rooms across the network.
iPoker is also looking to the future – a future that will undoubtedly bring increased demand for mobile access to gaming sites – and is making modifications that will better position the network to function optimally to provide mobile online poker games.
The iPoker Network is owned by Isle of Man-based Playtech, a company that provides gaming software and platforms not just for poker, but for a variety of online betting applications, including Internet sports-betting, online casino games, and online bingo, just to name a few.
Reduction in number of table types
One noticeable change that players will see spread out across the iPoker Network will be a dramatic downsizing of the table types, from seven currently, down to only four.
The four new table types will be the following: Ante(100BBs, antes), Shallow (20 – 50BBs), Normal (40 – 100BBs), in addition to Anonymous (30 – 100BBs).
This change, coupled with the other major adjustments to the network, will stand to especially benefit lower stakes and less experienced players, who will better be able to maintain their bankrolls. Ahead of these changes, the iPoker Network ran an analysis across its player pool, and determined that their new methodology will help protect novice and low stakes players against undue losses.
This move will clearly also provide a boost for the network and its rooms, as players that fall into this category will have more money and thus will be able to stay in the game for longer periods of time.
Goodbye, U.S. dollar
One major change that the network will be undertaking is the phasing out of the U.S. dollar as the primary currency used across the network.
The reason behind this particular adjustment comes as a result of the increasing popularity of other currencies, namely the Euro and the British Pound. Conversions began to roll out this week, and are scheduled to take place through the month of January.
Across the network, monetary values will be adjusted to the new currencies according to current exchange rates.
For those unaware of the poker rooms operating on the iPoker Network, some of the noteworthy online poker rooms running on the platform are Bet365 Poker, Titan Poker, William Hill Poker (a room particularly popular with UK online poker players), and Poker770.
