Daniel Negreanu Joins 24/7 TV Network Poker Central

Recently, poker fans were delighted to learn about the upcoming launch of a brand new poker channel called Poker Central, which aims to provide poker shows around the clock for a global audience. The pioneering network has the potential to expand the game’s player base, and even create new poker superstars for fans to follow, but in the meantime Poker Central has decided ahead of its end of the year launch date to sign up the game current biggest draw, Daniel Negreanu. Following announcement of the partnership, Poker Central CEO Clint Stinchcomb commented:

“We are excited to add Daniel to the Poker Central team. Daniel is a great ambassador of the game and will help take televised poker to new heights.”

Poker’s Greatest Ambassador

Team PokerStars Daniel Negreanu is one of the most colorful and talented players in the game, having earned 6-WSOP bracelets and $29,973,907 from tournament over a career stretching back to 1997. The 40-year old Canadian is also far and away Poker’s Greatest Ambassador, with his affable nature and outgoing personality a welcome relief from some of the anti-social traits associated with other pros, such as Phil Ivey.

In recent weeks, Negreanu started making increasing references to Poker Central via his Twitter account, which currently has 351k followers, leading many fans to conclude he had been offered a role in the company. Interestingly, media website pokerupdate even predicted Negreanu’s upcoming partnership deal, and after triumphantly tweeting “Looks like we called it”, Negreanu tweeted back:

“@PokerUpdate @PokerCentral_ or maybe they read your article and thought, “Good idea!”

Negreanu’s Role In Poker Central

Negreanu is sure to feature heavily in any original poker programs shown on Poker Central, in addition to providing insightful commentary from the studio, and helping to promote the channel. As CEO Clint Stinchcomb explained concerning Negreanu’s new role: “..as a partner at Poker Central, Daniel will be a key spokesperson for the 24/7 Poker network, as well as a promoter of – and player in – the upcoming Super High Roller Bowl.”

The 2015 Super High Roller Bowl will be held at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas from July 2nd to 4th, and is part of the casino’s new initiative to host one-off, high-roller events. This particular tournament requires a huge $500,000 buy-in, and some of the game’s greatest ever players have already signed up to take part in the action, including Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, Erik Seidel, Antonio Esfandiari, Dan Colman, Tom Dwan, Joseph Cheong, and Scott Seiver.

Potential Impact On Industry

Poker Central will be the world’s only TV network providing round the clock coverage of all things poker to captivate and enthrall a global audience. From its Las Vegas location, the channel will feature exclusive poker tournaments, and also help advance the game worldwide by granting viewers a unique access to the game’s top talent, as well as their top tips and strategies. As CEO Clint Stinchcomb, explains:

“Fans can start enjoying 24/7 poker in Q4 2015.. we will launch Poker Central with over 2,000 hours of world class poker programming lined up, designed to delight both casual fans and aficionados.. We have a great team fully cognizant of and experienced in the challenges of programming 8,760 hours per year, that is not just 24/7 but 24/365.”

Educating The Masses

Another hope is that the regular poker news updates provided by Poker Central will help educate and organize the poker community, especially in terms of regulation in the USA. The benefits of having an international poker platform at the industry’s disposal cannot be overstated, and Poker Central will have the ability like no other channel before to educate players and even influence the lawmakers responsible for deciding poker policy around the world.

In addition, Poker Central canhelp further the industry by introducing the poker public to some of the game’s more interesting and colorful pros through its choice of biographies and original programming content. This is especially important as its poker’s more outgoing and eccentric characters who will ultimately help attract fresh interest in the game. Finally, past poker television shows have focused almost exclusively on Texas Hold’em events, but Poker Central can also introduce its audience to other exciting variants, such as PL Omaha and Mixed Games, which have been largely overlooked. In other words, Poker Central could a means to grow other sectors of the poker industry, and ultimately help create a new popularity for some of these less promoted poker variants.
