Nevada Players Take to Forums to Complain of WSOP.com Deposit Problems

Last week when Caesars launched its first real-money poker site, emblazoned with one of the most recognizable brands in all of poker, WSOP.com, excitement ran high amongst Nevada online poker players eager to try their hand at the room.

Unfortunately, not everyone who has wanted to play on the site has had an easy time doing so. There have been a plethora of complaints on the official 2+2 forum devoted to the WSOP.com room relating to issues users are experiencing attempting to deposit funds onto the site.

Some credit card transactions are being rejected

Notably, players who are trying to fund their accounts using credit cards are finding that banks are not able to process the transactions. Depositors are noting that the transactions are being declined, with some reporting on 2+2 that bank representatives are claiming that no transactions have been recorded.

Others have commented that certain banks may disallow the transactions because charges relating to gambling are not permitted.

An official for WSOP.com was actively responding to player complaints, with one post remarking, “Some credit card companies may block gaming transactions. Contact your credit card issuer to find out if this charge was blocked intentionally. Let them know that this is something you want and that WSOP.com online poker is fully regulated and legal in the state of Nevada. If the credit card issuer will still not let you make this transaction, you may want to try a different card. The current alternative is an ACH transfer.”

For those who are unfamiliar, an ACH transfer is a direct transfer from a bank, an abbreviation of Automated Clearing House. The transaction functions much like an electronic check.

Users on 2+2 have reportedly had better luck using this payment method, though some banks do have limits on how much can be transferred this way per day, with those who bank at Chase and Bank of America describing a $500 maximum amount.

First site to launch also had a few bumps at the onset

WSOP.com is open only to those who are in Nevada when logging on. Though players are not required to be permanent residents of the state, they must be 21 years of age and must be within the Silver State’s borders if they wish to access real-money online poker games.

The launch of the site is big news for the U.S. online poker market, not only because it is the first major brand to go live, but also because Nevada online poker players now have two sites to choose from. The first site to open its virtual doors was Ultimate Poker, which launched in late April of this year.

After Ultimate Poker’s first games started up, there were some complaints from players who were experiencing problems with identity and location verification, which uses cell phone data as part of the process. Players whose phones belonged to certain cell carriers had some issues, which were quickly identified and resolved by Ultimate Poker staff.

After the termination of an initial 90-day trial period in which the site was closely monitored by Nevada gaming officials, Ultimate Poker undertook a software upgrade, with some players at that time reporting back about bugs, freezing and the like.

Though players may be having trouble getting money onto WSOP.com, one advantage the room does provide is that it does offer a real-money poker client for Mac, something that is currently not available through Ultimate Poker.
