bwin and Amaya Announce New Jersey Partnership

This week gaming services company Amaya Gaming Group Inc. announced via a press release that it is teaming up with bwin.party in New Jersey.

bwin has partnered with The Borgata

Under the terms of New Jersey’s iGaming law, online operators must be entered into a partnership agreement with a land-based casino property in the state’s gambling center, Atlantic City.

bwin has paired up with The Borgata, arguably the most luxurious of the twelve casinos located in Atlantic City.

“Under the Agreement, online gaming websites provided by bwin.party to its licensed gaming operator partner Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa (“Borgata”) in New Jersey will be integrated with Amaya’s Casino Gaming System. The integration will provide players with access to an extensive selection of Amaya’s proprietary and third-party online casino games,” read Amaya’s press release outlining the alliance.

Amaya, with offices in North American, Europe, as well as Latin America “provides a full suite of gaming products and services including casino, poker, sportsbook, platform, lotteries and slot machines.”

bwin received New Jersey approval this week

At the time of the press release, bwin.party had yet to gain final licensing approval from New Jersey regulators, however just yesterday the company was issued a transactional waiver in the Garden State.

This means that bwin.party will be able to launch its New Jersey-facing real money games on November 21, the date that marks the beginning of New Jersey’s “soft launch” period. The full launch of regulated iGaming in the state of New Jersey is set to happen five days later, on November 26.

Launch of New Jersey iGaming dominating headlines

The soft launch essentially amounts to a testing period, with specifically invited players being the only allowed to use the sites during that time. It is unknown whether those players will be able to place real money wagers during the soft launch or whether the games will be operating in play money mode only.

What is known, however, is that there is a tremendous amount of excitement surrounding the commencement of regulated online betting in New Jersey. The Garden State was the third state to pass a law allowing for regulated real money online wagering in the U.S. behind Nevada and Delaware, and will be the third to see sites go live.

Part of the reason New Jersey has received such a surfeit of attention is due to the fact that it is by far the largest state, population-wise, to pass online gambling regulation, and as such is anticipated to have a much bigger market than Nevada and Delaware, both of which are small in terms of overall population.
